Recycling Links/Consumer Information
US CPSC released requirements for the Consumer Product Safety Improvement Act - CPSIA. These are safety guidelines for products used by families and by children. It's important to check this website to ensure your items are not on any recall list. To check on the updated recall list, click on this link: CPSC Recall List. Check at the bottom of our home page to see the live feed of the recall list.
Real Simple website is a wonderful resource website for all those items you aren't sure where or how to recycle. They have an "A-Z" guide for you to print and use.
Used car seats: please use checklist to assure your car seat is safe. A great site for car seat safety & guidelines: Kentucky Highway Safety. Kentucky State Police website has great facts and information about Car Seat Safety.
Used Cell Phones: Cell For Cash is a foundation that will recycle your old cell phones. Also, check your local police station as they use recycled phones for some of their programs.
Used books/music/movies/games: Swap Tree is a company that connects you with others ready to part with their goods. You are able to swap your 'old' goods with others to get some 'new' goods.
Used sports shoes: Nike Reuse-a-shoe is an organization that recycles old sport shoes into new shoes, zippers, under flooring for gyms, etc. They chop them up and find new uses for them. All sports shoes are welcome!
Old prescription glasses: Check your eye doctor's office for a recycling program. They will reuse parts for new glasses!
Anything & everything: Free Cycle is located locally in our communities. You can list anything and everything for someone else to come and get for FREE. You can also find things you might be looking for.. for FREE!
